Gifts of Securities
Gifts of securities often confer significant tax benefits to
a donor. For example, contributions of appreciated securities held for
over a year are generally deductible at market value, regardless of what
the donor paid for the securities. In addition, the capital tax is avoided through such a gift. In all cases, consult with your accountant or
financial advisor about the tax benefits of your gift.
How to Notify the Foundation of a Gift of
Securities:
When making a gift of securities, please contact our Executive Director. It is extremely important to provide complete information including your name, address, phone number, the name and type of securities to be gifted (public, private, restricted, mutual fund, etc.), number of shares and the date you intend to make the gift. A letter will be sent to you for your tax records. Your gift will be credited to the General Fund unless you specify one or more of our other funds. The targeted funds where you can direct your gift are the Site Preservation Fund, Education and Safety Fund, Hang Gliding Competition Fund, Women’s HG Competition Fund, and the Paragliding Competition Fund. Your name will be added to our donor list unless you indicate you wish to remain anonymous.
